Slow Cooker Kalua Pork

Now that you've probably done a week of Whole 30 you are definitely starting to feel those cravings for sugar. While you fight that fight your body is starting the process of fat adaptation. You have given up sugars, carbs and whole grains so pretty soon your body will start tapping into your fat stores for energy. You can do this! This recipe below will help you get your fill of yummy flavorful protein to keep you energy levels up!

This recipe is actually one of my top favorites as well as my husbands 😁

Slow Cooker Kalua Pork

Ingredients

Crock Pot
5lb pork butt roast (bone in or out-once it's done cooking the bone will slide right out so doesn't matter)
3 Pieces Whole 30 compliant bacon
5 peeled garlic cloves
1 1/2 tbsp pink himalayan salt or red hawaiian course sea salt

That's it!

Instructions

1. Plug in crock pot/slow cooker and lay 3 raw bacon pieces at the bottom.
2. Place pork butt on top of bacon.
3. Slice 5 holes in top of pork butt to insert the 5 garlic cloves into (spread them out for even flavoring).
4. Spread 1 1/2 tbsp of the salt evenly across top of pork butt.
5. Cook overnight on low for 12 hours or high for 8.
6. Pull out of cooker and shred pork for a pulled pork type of texture.

Believe it or not that is it. The simplest Whole 30 recipe I have ever used. And you will be amazed by the taste when this pork is done. We put it on a lot of different things. We've done it on top of baked potatoes with Whole 30 compliant BBQ sauce. We've eaten it on top of Whole 30 compliant mashed potatoes. And we've also just eaten it plain with a couple of sides of veggies!

If you are impatient you can also use your instant pot for this recipe! Instant Pot Kalua Pork
