I absolutely love fruit...and so does my little guy Jackson. So this gave me the idea to go berry picking as a fun activity for the family. It was my birthday this past weekend so my husband said he was game to go along with anything πŸ’

I started googling what farms had ripe berries to pick at this time of year. We had a crazy winter, some flooding, and a lot of rain storms so a lot of the farms have had a rough go of it recently. Butttt I found one that was open for my birthday weekend! So this past weekend we went to one of our local family-owned orchards for their opening weekend of strawberry picking. We met up with our close friends who have a son around the same age as Jax in order to make it even more fun for everyone.

We went to Ditmars Orchard and Vineyard, where we've previously gone during the fall to go apple picking! πŸŽπŸThe orchard serves alcohol (for those parents that like to enjoy a nice beverage on their days off) as well as fruit drinks and fun snacks for the kids. They have a cute little play area set up for when the kids start to lose focus on picking berries. It really is an awesome place to visit anytime during the year. Just make sure you look on their website or call before visiting to see what's in season for picking!

I love being able to support the local farms in our area during all times of the year. They work so hard at what they do and it is always such a simple and fun experience to take the family for some weekend fun. It's never over crowded (like most outdoor places when there is good weather) and a lot of orchards have fun events that they plan throughout the year. I have always loved picking out pumpkins in the fall before we even had kids, but having kids gives me even more excuses to be able to get outside and visit local farms and orchards in our area.

Jax absolutely loved being able to run around and pick the strawberries! Strawberries are one of his favorite fruits and because of this we lost one of his good pair of shorts to strawberry juice πŸ˜‚
He slept like a baby after his active day of being outside and having a belly full of strawberries.

An added bonus was having a ton of strawberries to make chocolate covered strawberries today! So go out and support your local farms!
