To Do List: Read More

April 2, 2019

What's on your reading list right now?

I finally started reading again after what seemed like countless excuses not to (not counting children's bedtime stories). But why make excuses for something that I love to do? Instead of putting down my phone at night and grabbing a new book, I would be sitting for hours scrolling through my phone trying to get tired. Who does this too? I finally gave myself a swift kick in the a**. I bought myself a cute reading light from Target and a great new book to read and just did it.

If you haven't heard about Rachel Hollis' new book, Girl, Stop Apologizing, it is amazing. I started reading it last night and I am already half way through it. Seriously though, it is amazing. Target was carrying it early, with a special discount, so I picked it up about two weeks ago with my handy dandy new reading light.  Did I mention that this new reading lamp has a usb port, a plug, and storage? I store my essentials in it- my "nighttime" chapstick, my headphones, my latest book/s, tv remote, my Lush Sleepy bedtime lotion, and my son's Tubby Todd Natural All Over Ointment. Those are all essentials right? 😉

Anyways, back to this awesome book...
Even if you're not really the type of person that reads "self help" or "motivational" books you will most likely enjoy reading this book. Her tone of writing is simple yet so easy to relate to. She talks about the excuses we, as females, make and how that cuts off our dreams and goals. And that's just the beginning! My sister in law already asked to borrow it when I'm done so you know that this book is making waves throughout the female community.

I can't put this book down even this morning! But it may have to wait until 1230 nap-time because my son is currently running around the kitchen with his hockey sticks and banging them on the cabinets as I try to take the picture below 😬. Who else has mornings like this?
I like to pretend I have "time" to sit and drink my Dunkin' Donuts K-cup coffee out of my AMAZING new Starbucks reusable mermaid cup (don't judge for drinking Dunkin' out of a Starbucks cup) but I don't when my little man has his morning energy. Most mornings consist of my son running around like a wild man while I make him breakfast and I quickly scarf down a coffee and a Lara Bar (Whole 30 saviorrrrrr- don't tell Marissa Hartwig- she would be upset with me for not eating a "real" breakfast). But that's kind of just how life goes sometimes.

The next time you have a little time on your hands pick up this book and start reading. No more excuses.

P.S. Also on my reading list is Happy Easter Curious George, ya know, because I have a 2 year old.
