Fun Spring Activity to Support Your Local Farms

I started googling what farms had ripe berries to pick at this time of year. We had a crazy winter, some flooding, and a lot of rain storms so a lot of the farms have had a rough go of it recently. Butttt I found one that was open for my birthday weekend! So this past weekend we went to one of our local family-owned orchards for their opening weekend of strawberry picking. We met up with our close friends who have a son around the same age as Jax in order to make it even more fun for everyone.
We went to Ditmars Orchard and Vineyard, where we've previously gone during the fall to go apple picking! ππThe orchard serves alcohol (for those parents that like to enjoy a nice beverage on their days off) as well as fruit drinks and fun snacks for the kids. They have a cute little play area set up for when the kids start to lose focus on picking berries. It really is an awesome place to visit anytime during the year. Just make sure you look on their website or call before visiting to see what's in season for picking!
Jax absolutely loved being able to run around and pick the strawberries! Strawberries are one of his favorite fruits and because of this we lost one of his good pair of shorts to strawberry juice π
He slept like a baby after his active day of being outside and having a belly full of strawberries.
An added bonus was having a ton of strawberries to make chocolate covered strawberries today! So go out and support your local farms!
